S. Sriranjan, Secretary of KHC OSA U. K
Mr Sinnathurai Sriranjan
Sriranjan was born on 23.8.55 in Maradana, Sri Lanka to Mr Candar Sinnuthurai, Railway Station Master and Annalakshmy. He is an old boy of Kokuvil Hindu College where he completed GCE (OL). He arrived in England in 1976 and joined Willesden College of Technology and completed OND Technology. He then went to do HND in Electronics Engineering at Derby college of Further Education and completed Engineering council Exam. He worked initially as a Service Engineer and later as a Service Test Engineer for BT. He then became a self employed postmaster/proprietor for seven years. He is now a self employed BSM Driving Instructor. He is married to Vasuki, a post office Manager and has two sons, Luxman, Ruban and daughter Maijury. He has always been a keen sportsman. He has contributed enormously to the welfare of young Tamils in London by organising several sports events. He also organised the first ever Festival of Cricket where he brought in cricketers of other Asian Clubs to play with Tamil cricketers. This was a huge success. He was Founder Manager and Chairman of Kokuvil Cricket Club, which at that time included Sinhalese players too. He also served as The Ceylon Cricket League Secretary and went on to be Chairman. He is a Founder Sports Secretary of Kokuvil Hindu College OSA (UK) and has served as The Secretary as well. His service to the Tamil Community in England spreads to over 16 years. He also was Founder Secretary of Jaffna Schools Sports Association (now Tamil School Sports Association) and later became its President. It was during his time as president that he went to Sri Lanka to resurrect JSSA which had not been functioning for 15 years because of the civil war. He is a visionary. He wanted the Tamils in the North and East of Sri Lanka to have their own sports academy and became Founder Chairman of S.A.N.E. (Sports Academy for North and East). He collected over £50,000 and had 30 acres of land cleared in Kilinotchi for this academy. Alas, due to the continuing war this project has been suspended. His hobbies are playing badminton and cricket and arranging sports events.
